====== McLennan, Farquhar ====== (1787-25 Sept. 1846), businessman. Native of Morvich [sp sic], Kintail, Rossshire, Scotland. He emigrated to Canada in 1802. Having returned to Scotland in 1812, he was married there in 1815 to Flora McLennan (d. 17 March 1878, aged 91 or 94), also of Kintail, and returned to Canada in 1816 with his wife. “He settled at Williamstown, where he acquired considerable property, and till his death in 1845 [sic] was one of the prominent businessmen of the place.” (Year of death appears on gravestones twice as 1846) “Farquhar McLennan engaged extensively in the lumbering industry…” At Williamstown, he was the owner of the historic residence now known as the Bethune-Thompson House. Place of death: Williamstown. He was the father of Murdoch F. McLennan. And he was the grandfather, through another son Duncan F., of three McLennan brothers who appear in the present dictionary: Dr D. R. (Randy), Capt. J. A. B., and Farquhar D. And he was the grandfather also, through his daughter Flora, Mrs Hugh A. Robertson, of three Robertson brothers of this dictionary: Col. D.
