Cameron, James Albert Craig

(17 Sept. 1869-25 April 1939), lawyer. (James A.C. Cameron, J.A.C. Cameron, K. C.) Born at Camerontown (now known as Summerstown Station), GC. Parents: John Cameron and his wife Mary Grant. He attended Williamstown High School and Queen’s University (M.A., 1890), and studied law in a Cornwall law office and at Osgoode Hall. In 1894 he was called to the Ontario bar. He practised law in Cornwall with James Leitch, J.G. Harkness, and R.A. Pringle the son of Judge Pringle, then became chief clerk to the master-in-ordinary, Osgoode Hall, Toronto, and afterwards was himself master-in-chambers at Osgoode Hall. Cameron wrote The Principles of the Law of Costs (Toronto, 1901) and The Law of Bankruptcy in Canada (Toronto, 1920). For five years he was an alderman on Toronto City Council. Cameron died at Toronto General Hospital. He was married in 1901 to Mabel L. Alguire, daughter of the well known Dr D. O. Alguire, mayor of Cornwall and MP for Stormont. Cameron was the uncle of Wellington J. C. Barrett.
