(article on Alcide, Glengarry News 4 Oct. 2000) Leo himself was a player in the fatal hockey game at Maxville, and he assaulted Loney following the striking of Alcide. An obituary (Standard Freeholder) of Leo Laurin noted that he came from a family of printers and publishers, “four of his brothers being also engaged in the business,” namely J. Hector, J. Albert, William (Anthime) and Alcide Laurin, all of this dictionary. Leo Laurin’s son Arthur (Art), who succeeded him, was for many years the editor and proprietor of the Leader.
